The wooden screws that are used to construct the face vices on my workbenches are made by myself using a traditional tap and thread cutting tool. These are also offered for sale individually so you can install them on your own workbench build and make it extra special. Having constructed countless vices with these screws I can be sure that no detail is overlooked and guarantee that these are the finest wooden screws that you can purchase.
Each screw and nut are built from a solid section of beech that is soaked in linseed oil for several days prior to being threaded. The oil penetrates in to the timber and creates a self-lubricating effect along with really toughing up the wooden thread once it dries.
A circular garter is included which each wooden screw together with a handle with knobs. The supplied garter is for external use but the screws do have a second groove so that an internal garter could be used if preferred.
Each screw has a 2 1/2” thread diameter and
a pitch of two threads per inch.
